WELCOME TO THIES FARM AND
GREENHOUSES,INC.
"THE FARM IN THE CITY"
THE SESAON IS MOVING INTO FALL, BUT WE HAVE A LOT OF SUMMER TIME GOODNESS LEFT TO HARVEST!!!!<B>
That's right, because of the late spring and the rains of spring and summer we are late with many crops reaching maturity. We were bummed out in July about it. But now we are kind of excited to have such a great selection for September!
A prime example of this is our Watermelon Festival which will take place at both farms on August 30th. Our homegrown melon season will go strong for most of September, sweet, juicy watermelons and cantaloupe. Come out to sample the melons along with other fruits and veggies. We will have a kids activity area and face painting, sample some of our top of the line jams, jellies, pickles and more. Besides the melons, tomatoes season was very late getting started, but man was it worth the wait. What a great flavor! Sample some of the many varieties and types that we grow. The sweet corn season will last up until about mid September also, get it while you can, we really miss the fresh corn when it over for the season. So as you can see we will have a tasty September and we hope you can make it down to the farm.
How about October, you may be asking! Well we are preparing for our busiest month of the year also. We are now taking reservations for the school and scout groups. You may make reservations either on line or call the office at 314-428-8356. Our Pumpkinland link on our web site will allow for the on-line reservation. We will contact you by phone to confirm all info.
Pumpkinland will open on October 1 and go thru October 31. The only real change for 2008 is that we will close pumpkinland on Mondays. Our markets will remain open on Mondays, our usual hours of 9:00 till 6:00 monday thru sat. and 10:00 till 5:00 on sundays. We felt that our loyal custumers from spring and fall maybe would benefit from a day not so crowded with the pumpkinland participants. So pumpkinland hours will be Tues-sat 9:00-6:00 and sunday 10:00-5:00. Of coarse for more info check out the pumpkinland link here on the homepage.
Fall also brings with it a great time to freshen up your gardens. Our mum crop looks really nice. With over 6000 grown in our greenhouses, we should have what you need! Also asters, pansies and ornamental kale amd cabbage are available.
The fall produce line will start soon also. Winter squashes, sweet potatoes, broccoli and cauliflower. Fresh greens, spinach and more.
We hope to see you at one of the farms this September or October. Stay cool and eat healthy. Remember local produce is good for everyone, from the enviroment to your budget!
*We still have fresh produce continuing into September but it's
also time to refresh your flower beds for the fall. Our full line of
